When properly documenting a crime scene, you can’t expect to get useful photographs by simply “pointing and shooting” your camera.
This hands-on lab will teach your students how to use a digital camera available separately to document all aspects of a crime scene like a professional.
By utilizing the included materials they will learn to use the various functions of their camera such as zoom, exposure settings and flash in order to generate quality pictures in challenging situations.
After learning how perspective, contrast and lighting conditions affect their photographs, students will use their skills to document a crime scene and retrieve certain information from their photographs as if it were to be evidence presented in court.
Includes a teacher’s guide, student copy master, reference images on CD-ROM, and other materials for one class.
Minimum specifications of the digital camera required for this activity:
• 3-megapixels or greater
• Exposure control +/-
• Focus zone adjustment i.e. close-up, distant
• Zoom optical or digital
• Built-in flash
• Aperture control recommended but not required
• Computer with image capture/editing software
• Hard drive storage capacity
