Magnifiers with acrylic lenses are lightweight and less expensive than glass lens magnifiers. They are inexpensive enough to include in every field kit or to have at the station where latent print evidence is being processed.

These lightweight round magnifiers are economically priced. The durable ABS plastic handles are shaped to fit comfortably in the hand. The acrylic lenses are produced to high aphthalmic standards. However, if you are working with ultraviolet light or with other Forensic Light Sources, you should have a magnifier with a glass lens. When trying to view a latent print developed with fluorescent powder or chemicals and illuminated with a Forensic Light Source, these acrylic lenses will fog and you will not be able to see the print clearly.
