Tyre Print Casting Frame

The Tyre Print Casting Frame is an adjustable aluminium frame designed to contain dental stone or other suitable casting material when producing casts of tyre impressions, footwear marks and other three-dimensional evidence at a crime scene.

The frame helps control the flow of casting material around the impression, allowing the examiner to create a more defined and manageable cast. This can be particularly useful when working with longer tyre marks or larger footwear impressions where a conventional fixed-size casting frame may not provide sufficient coverage.

Adjustable Aluminium Construction

The Tyre Print Casting Frame is manufactured from aluminium, providing a lightweight yet durable solution for operational forensic use.

Each frame consists of two U-shaped aluminium bars connected by two adjustable connector slides. The unique overlapping design allows the frame to be extended by approximately 8 inches or more, giving the examiner additional flexibility when working with different impression sizes.

Once positioned around the required impression, the frame provides a boundary to help contain the dental stone as it is poured.

Designed for Tyre and Footwear Impression Casting

Although particularly useful for tyre impression casting, the frame can also be used when recovering larger footwear impressions or other suitable three-dimensional marks.

The adjustable design allows crime scene investigators to position the frame around the evidence before introducing the casting material. This helps reduce unnecessary spread and can make the resulting cast easier to handle once cured.

Portable and Reusable

When the casting process is complete, the connector slides can simply be removed. The two U-shaped sections can then be separated, making the unit considerably easier to transport and store.

Its compact dismantled design makes the frame suitable for inclusion in crime scene vehicles, forensic equipment kits and impression evidence recovery equipment.

The aluminium construction also allows the Tyre Print Casting Frame to be reused multiple times, providing a practical alternative to disposable containment methods.

After use, the frame should be cleaned in accordance with the organisation’s normal contamination-control and equipment-cleaning procedures before being returned to service.
